Madison Bikes is a 501 c3 non-profit organization, comprised of volunteers, with the mission to create a community where anyone can ride a bicycle conveniently and comfortably to any place year-round.

Madison Bikes engages with community partners to advocate for bike-friendly city planning and transit options. We sponsor community events to promote biking as a fun and healthy mode of transport and recreation in all weather. We offer grants and support to organizations and individuals who share our goal in making Madison a city for bikes.

Madison has been awarded the status of “Platinum Bicycle Friendly Community” by the League of American Bicyclists. But we at Madison Bikes think there is still a lot of work to do. Intersections and busy roads that leave people on bikes feeling exposed can make trips to work, shopping, school, or social events difficult or intimidating for many people who would like to have an alternative to driving. A major focus for us is closing the gaps in Madison’s existing bicycle network, ensuring equitable access to high-quality bike infrastructure in all parts of the city.
