Madison Bike Week starts Sunday! (and could use some more volunteers)

Madison Bike Week is back and better than ever! From June 1st to 8th, let’s come together in celebrating everything we love about biking—whether you’re commuting to work, cruising to the farmers’ market, or just enjoying the breeze on two wheels.

Before we get to the fun: We’re still looking for a few volunteers for the Pride Ride (June 1), the Fire Station Bike Station (June 3), and our party at Brittingham Park (June 6).

Our week-long celebration of riding bikes features over 75 events this year:

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, there’s something for everyone. Check out the full schedule, download the app, and plan your week of pedal-powered fun: madisonbikes.org/events/bikeweek-2025

Let’s roll, Madison! 🚴‍♀️💨

Thanks to our sponsors who make our events possible! And to all the people, non-profits, businesses, city staff who contributed to Madison Bike Week 2025!

Action Alert: Oppose a freeze on bike lane funding

Rendering of the John Nolen Drive causeway reconstruction, one of the projects at risk

Lots of things are happening at the federal level, and the League of American Bicyclists alerted us of a potential cut to any federal transportation funding that involves bike lanes. For Madison, this would likely delay or stop projects such as the John Nolen Drive Causeway reconstruction, or the dozens of projects funded through the city’s Safe Streets and Road for All grant. Please sign the petition to oppose these cuts, in Madison and nationwide. Here’s the Bike League’s message:

Sign the petition now!

Here is the Bike League’s message:

We need your help. Reports indicate that federal funding for bike lanes and other important transportation projects may be frozen soon. We know that these projects save lives. And if funding is frozen, many projects already approved for federal funding may never break ground to transform dangerous streets. Those projects already in progress will stop immediately and may never start back up again.

Your voice matters. Help us deliver thousands of messages of support to the Secretary of Transportation.

Tell the Department of Transportation not to freeze these critical transportation funds.

Join and support Madison Bikes for 2019

Join Donate Support Madison Bikes in 2019

Madison Bikes thanks you so much for your support over the past year! As 2018 comes to a close, we’re kicking off the Madison Bikes 2019 membership drive.

If you want to sign up for a new membership or a renew an existing membership, simply complete this form.

If you’ve already got your membership for 2019 in place, for example, maybe you got your membership as part of your ticket to the annual party this past September, consider making an extra donation to support Madison Bikes.

We are currently setting our 2019 budget. We run a lean operation, but just to keep the lights on costs us approximately $1000 for the year. Your membership dues and donations support this along with all the fun stuff like Winter Bike Week, Wisconsin Bike Week activities, our Ride the Drive presence, annual members party, and the Winter Bike Fashion Show. Madison Bikes is an inclusive organization and does not limit participation to dues-paying members. Our Board and committee members are all-volunteer; together they donate over a thousand working hours throughout the year.

Thank you for your gift and being part of the Madison Bikes mission.
